Work Experience at KKCL English – A Fresh Perspective

My name is Jawad and I am doing my internship in London – I have been here for just over two months now…

London is a very vibrant city and of course, is well-known all over the world. I like London because there are so many things to see and do, from the plentiful sightseeing to the restaurants and the pubs. The people are – thankfully – very friendly and helpful when one needs information. The weather is not exactly great, but nevertheless, it is a lovely city to live in and there are so many things to do. London is also one of the biggest cities in the world.

St Paul’s Cathedral, London

I am doing my internship at KKCL based in Harrow. KKCL is an English Language school, where students from all around the world come to learn. I have spent  over 8 weeks doing my internship here, working in the Sales and Marketing department. There is a very vibrant team ethos and spirit, and as a marketing intern I focus on creating content through videos on KKCL TV! and digital marketing via social networks, as a tool to spread our content and attract clients.

Sales naturally has a very important place in the company because it is through this that we are able to provide our services to those who are  in search of them; calling clients and forming a relationship to ensure we work together again in the future. It is also nice to interact with the students here !

We are particularly proud of our Go Create! English lessons that we offer. These are one-of-a-kind lessons allowing our students to use their imagination and language capacities during the classes to learn English through creative projects. For students over 18 years of age, we also offer adult courses.

In Go Create! English, language is explored inside the classroom and then put into practice in creative projects such as story-boarding, film-making and band performances. The focus of each project is on using real-life, practical English to discuss ideas, solve problems and use language creatively and expressively.

This unique programme is designed and updated by English language teachers who have a proven background in the creative industries. We execute these projects using professional, high-quality media applications, and use them in conjunction with a variety of task-based classroom activities, helping people to learn English in a genuinely fun way.

Harrow School Estate

The Summer School programme takes place on a boarding school campus (Harrow School) with excellent facilities, and safe and secure on-site residential accommodation. We use the same innovative Go Create! English programme at all of our centres, with trips and activities organised all around London.

Harrow School is an independent boarding school (public school) for boys in Harrow, London. The school was founded in 1572 by John Lyon under the Royal Charter of the Queen Elizabeth I. There have been a lot of famous alumni educated at Harrow School like the former prime minister Winston Churchill, and actors and singers such as James Blunt and Benedict Cumberbatch. Lord Byron also attended Harrow, as did prime ministers Peel, Palmerston, Baldwin and Nehru.

Speech Room, Harrow School

The famous Speech Room was built in 1820 and is used as a space where boys can learn the art of public speaking. In 1976 it was converted into a gallery.

Winston Churchill left Harrow School in December 1892. Whilst there, he displayed evidence of the attributes that would later shape him in becoming one of the most famous Prime Ministers.

In the speech room, Winston Churchill attended school assemblies, plays, concerts, debates and lectures, and enjoyed all of  the presentations by the special guests.

The Fourth Form Room is the spiritual heart of Harrow School. It is in this room where the Harry Potter scene was filmed in which Hermione first levitates an object with the spell “Wingardium Leviosa!”, much to her fellow students’ surprise and delight….

I couldn’t recommend KKCL highly enough!
